Exodus 8-9 | The Purpose of Everything In Your Life

"May it be according to your word, that you may know that there is no one like the LORD our God." Exodus 8:10

Everyone knows the story of Moses and his deliverance of the Israelites from Egypt. Moses and Aaron came to Pharaoh multiple times, warning that if would not let the people go, God would send judgment on the Egyptians. Each time, Pharaoh would mock God. Each time, the judgment would come but Pharaoh would still not relent.

Egypt was the most godless nation on earth, worshiping and serving creatures instead of the One who had made them. The most important thing they needed to see was the reality of the one true God and to bring their lives into alignment with Him. Over and over again God said, “I am going to do this, so the people may know that there is no one like the LORD our God. This understanding and the willingness to surrender to God would have redeemed them and changed everything. Their lives and eternity were at stake. But they continually refused.

GOD WANTS TO FLOW THROUGH US

… with His love, His life, His miraculous intervention, for the same reason: that people may see God and be saved from a life without Him. What could be a more important purpose for our existence?

Our motivations are mixed, tinged with selfishness at times and noble goals at other times. But wouldn't it be something if this was our thought and prayer for every single act of the common day: that everyone would know that there is no one like the LORD our God."

Think of how that would change things today. How would it change your prayers? Your words? Your actions and decisions? Your choices. It’s the highest purpose for this alone will bring people to the one true God.

"Lord, I want to so live that You have absolute room to display Yourself through me and around me. I want to pray with this motivation--not that people would know me, but know YOU. Lord, today would you make me continually aware of this goal and this motivation ... and change me so that I would not abort this, but my life would promote this."
