Numbers11-12 | One of Those Guys

Now the people became like those who complain of adversity in the hearing of the Lord; and when the Lord heard it, His anger was kindled, and the fire of the Lord burned among them and consumed some of the outskirts of the camp. (Numbers 11:1)

By the grace of God, I don't want to be one of those guys. The ones who are described in Numbers, Chapter 11 who complained. Paul uses them also in 1 Corinthians 10 as an example to avoid.

THE REAL PROBLEM

Complainers have lost sight of the goodness of God. The Lord was miraculously providing all they needed, but they looked back to Egypt and wanted to return there. Complete ingratitude.

COMPLAINERS DRAIN OTHERS

Complainers are a pain to deal with and they manifest a selfish, self-absorbed heart. Nothing is ever right for them. They have the spiritual gift of deflation. One complainer can drag an entire group down, souring spirits and stopping progress.

I could say more. But suffice it to say ... I don't want to be one of those guys.

Father, help me to live with a deep sense of gratitude. Give me the humility to accept every circumstance and person you bring across my path. Let me never get bitter with the anger against You for what You may be causing or allowing in my life. And, let me not complain today.
