Micah 1, 4:6-13, 5 | The Ancient One From The Little Town

“But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.”

Therefore He will give them up until the time When she who is in labor has borne a child. Then the remainder of His brethren will return to the sons of Israel. And He will arise and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God. And they will remain, because at that time He will be great to the ends of the earth. This One will be our peace. (Micah 5:2-5)

There was never a more important day than the coming of Christ, 2,000 years ago. If this had not happened, all of history would have been changed. There is so much to understand about what this day has done but notice the last line of Micah’s prophecy: “This One will be our peace.”

THE PERSON

“This One” ... peace is not something He has, but something He IS. And when we have HIM, we have peace. There is no one else who could do this … and no one else who accomplished it but Him.

THE PROMISE

"will be" ... it is not that He might be or could be ... He will be! All of the promises of the Messiah were fully accomplished with Him. And this promise—that He would be our peace—was fully realized.

THE PEACE

"our peace" ... it is personal, for you and me. and it is the one thing all of us are craving. We long for peace. In our world, our family, our relationships. And, we can have that and will have that through Christ!

Father, thank You for sending the only One who could save us; the only One who could forgive us; and the only one who could give us peace. Help me know that when my peace is missing, it is not your fault. For to have You is to have peace.
