Luke 2 | Good News
But the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. (Luke 2:10-11)
Everybody likes good news. We have enough of the daily bad reports that discourage us. But good news brings life, peace, and joy.
THE MESSENGERS
The magnitude of this announcement called for some messengers of the highest order. God sent a multitude of angels to tell the world the best news ever. This was not merely a pronouncement for a few shepherds. It would be recorded for all time because it was a message that concerns everyone. It is for “all people.”
THE MESSAGE
This was earth-shattering, sin-destroying breaking news. It was not news of someone who was coming. Those prophecies fill the Old Testament. The Savior had come that day: “Today in the city of David.”
It was personal news. There is “born for you” a Savior. Christ had come for every single person who had ever lived and who would ever live. Read that verse again. It has your name on it.
A SAVIOR
… is at the heart of the announcement. Christ had come that night and He was to be the Savior, the much-anticipated Messiah, and he would deliver people from the ultimate bondage.
Want to spread some good news today? Then “Go, tell it on the mountain, that Jesus Christ is born!”
Father, thank You for sending Your only son to live and die for us! Thank You for this glorious news that we can be forgiven and cleansed and forever be with You. Help me to cut through my fear and share this news today with anyone I see.
