2 Peter 1 | How To Escape the Corruption That Is In The World

It's our great problem. How do we become holy? Pure? What we were designed to be? Like God? The Apostle Peter tells us the path:

Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust. (2 Peter 1:2-4)

So, how do we escape this corruption that afflicts us?

We come, increasingly, into an experiential knowledge of Christ. We are letting His life, more and more, flow through us. Therefore, we are less and less like the world and more like Him through …
  • Through His DIVINE POWER: The more we experience Him, the more His power is manifested in us, lifting us up above and delivering us from the corruption of the world.

  • Through the PROMISES: There are 7,000 of these in the Bible. It is God's operating system. He gives us His promises, we choose to trust Him or not. If we trust Him, we enter into another faith-experience with Christ that is real and we walk in faith with Him, and "become partakers of the divine nature." As we do, we are not operating as the world, but as God and with God ... and we, thus, escape the "corruption that is in the world by lust."
Walk in His power through daily surrender to Him and trust in His promises. It’s the spiritual recipe for a godly life.
Lord, I want to escape the corruption of this world. Help me to experience your life in me. Your presence in daily experience. Help me—by grace—to rely on your POWER in me and your PROMISES to me, so that I may access all you have designed for me. I ask this so You would receive more glory through my Christ-filled life.
