1 Samuel 3, 8 | God Speaking To And Through Children

Does God speak to children? And can He speak THROUGH children? If He doesn’t communicate by His Word and Spirit to children, they could not be saved. God can do anything. He has done this in the past and does it now!

SAMUEL AND THE VOICE

Samuel was a young child, entrusted to the care of Eli, the priest. While sleeping in the temple, Samuel heard a voice calling his name repeatedly.

Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, nor had the word of the Lord yet been revealed to him. So the Lord called Samuel again for the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli discerned that the Lord was calling the boy (1 Samuel 3:7-8).

Eli recognized what was happening and wisely counseled this young prophet-in-the-making.

Don’t ever underestimate God’s ability to speak to your children. I heard God’s strong call to me as a seven-year-old to salvation and a distinct call from God to preach at age 12. By God’s grace, I’ve never had any doubts about what God said. Those early communications from God, through His Word and Spirit, have directed me for the last 55+ years.

Pray that God will speak to your children early and often. You might just have a young Samuel on your hands!
