Luke 1 | What Christ Came to Do

Before Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit in a virgin’s womb, the angel Gabriel announced His coming. He appeared to young Mary, and in doing so, he prophesied about why Jesus was coming.

LUKE 1

30 The angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God.

31 “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus.

32 “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;

33 and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”

Of all times, this moment would clarify why the Messiah was coming, and it is telling what Gabriel said.

· His name will be Jesus

· He will be great

· He will be called the Son of the Most High (for He was conceived by God Himself)

· God will give him the throne of David

· He will reign over the house of Jacob forever and His kingdom would have no end

Jesus came to be enthroned as the King! To take His rightful place on David’s throne. And this Kingdom would never end.

And that’s precisely what He did.

HE REIGNS

… right now, and eternally. And this means that we must decide what we will do with this Eternal King. The right response is to bow before Him in worship and submission and serve Him eternally. For there is no King like Jesus.

Father, thank You for perfectly fulfilling Your plan. For setting up a new Kingdom with a new King. I pray today I will respond as a faithful servant of my Eternal King. And give me the courage to tell others about the King and Kingdom today.
